Ann Took Control of Her Health

“I started with Jarrett right after retiring from a desk job. Had chronic back pain and was on several medication‘s for blood pressure. Had no stamina and couldn’t lift much weight. Couldn’t even do a dead bug without my back hurting. 

After 3 1/2 years I am off of all, but two blood pressure medicines, I have gained bone mass above average for my age, and I am enjoying lots of energy and very good health. 

I now hike and average of 2 to 4 miles at a time, and my personal best with the trap bar dead lift is 170 pounds and the chest press is at 60 pounds. My core strength, actually total body strength, has improved so much. I now see my chiropractor maybe once every three months instead of every other week, and my lower back pain is almost nil. 

Jarrett also help me with eating healthy and nutritiously so that I am now only taking a multivitamin. I am also getting quality sleep, the majority of the time. Jarrett also helped with developing coping mechanisms for anxiety and stress. I can’t imagine not going to the gym and working out now or not making up weekly menus with macros figured out so that I don’t indulge too much. I feel I’m not doing too bad for a 70 year old.”

While many of us found comfort in sleeping in, binging "Tiger King," and stress-eating through the news cycles of 2020, our client Ann embraced the year as an opportunity for self-improvement, transforming herself into the unstoppable force she is today.

Living in upstate New York, Ann reached out to us during the early days of the COVID lockdown. Having recently retired, she was initially excited to dedicate her newfound time to personal health and wellness. But the pandemic's sudden halt to everyday life left her stranded without a clear path forward.

Instead of being confined to an office, Ann found herself isolated at home, lacking both support and direction. That's when her daughter introduced her to our Online Training and Nutrition Coaching program, marking the beginning of an incredible journey.

We commenced at a pace suitable for Ann, considering her back pain and the limitations of working out at home. With commitment and dedication, she diligently followed her workout routines and ensured she stayed active.

Ann's perseverance not only alleviated her back pain but also allowed her to gradually intensify her workouts. She soon began to embrace weight training and even prepared for challenging hikes.

Nutritionally, we focused on breaking away from her history of chronic dieting. Our goal was to foster intuitive eating habits and a healthier relationship with food. Emphasizing portion control and nutrient intake, we aimed for sustainable changes, not temporary diets. Her progress was so remarkable that her doctor reduced her medication.

As the world gradually reopened, Ann joined a local gym, seamlessly transitioning from home workouts to gym routines. We carefully guided her through weightlifting, focusing on improving her bone density and overall strength.

Today, Ann boasts three years of consistent gym training, showcasing her strength with a 170 lbs trap bar deadlift and numerous other feats for a 70-year-old. Her bone density has significantly improved, and she now can enjoy activities that require mobility, agility, and balance, without the fear of falling.

Her metabolic health has also seen a tremendous boost, evident in her abundant energy, greatly improved blood markers, and reduction in medications.

Ann's tenacity, balanced approach to eating, and positive mindset have been key to her consistent progress, even in the face of adversity.
